Bristol Motor Club will be holding its sixth annual Family Sports Car Day on Sunday 30th July at Castle Combe Race circuit. Over the years this event has attracted more and more enthusiasts so we are hoping that this year will be no exception. 2016 was definitely the biggest we have seen yet, so let’s make 2017 even bigger!
As in previous years we welcome any sports, GT and touring cars, whether production, kit or replica, old or modern, just as long as they are road registered. If you’ve attended the event in the past you will know that the real highlight of the day is that we are able to offer parade lap sessions of the legendary Castle Combe circuit. There will be three on track sessions, one in the morning and two in the afternoon, held under a pace car at moderate speed to eliminate the need for special safety clothing or helmets. What’s more you can even take passengers, so if your car has enough space, the whole family can experience a few laps of this great circuit.
Entry to the event is free if you just wish to display your vehicle; it is also free to spectators. There is a small charge of £15.00 per car, payable in advance, to take part in parade laps. This fee covers all three on-track sessions, which is a bargain for such a unique experience at a fantastic venue.
As well as the static display of vehicles and the track action taking place there will also be competitions for all. If you don’t fancy driving around the circuit then why not bring the family’s bikes and cycle around the track during the lunch break? The Tavern restaurant will be open all day for snacks, drinks and cooked meals so you won’t go hungry.
The event has become noted for its friendliness, safety and informality, and its generally non-commercial nature, so if you’re a car enthusiast this really is a day not to be missed. The only thing which can’t be guaranteed is the weather!
How to enter the event
If you’d like to bring a car to the event, whether to participate in parade laps or just to display, you will need to complete an entry form. To participate in Parade laps the track access fee is £15.00 per car. If you are paying by cheque please download, print and send the completed entry form, together with your cheque (payable to ‘Bristol Motor Club’) to me at the address shown on the form.
Alternatively, if you use online banking, please click this link to enter online, not forgetting then to use your personal online banking service to make a BACS transfer. The account details are shown on the form. Please note that your entry will not be accepted until the payment has been received.
Whichever method you choose, if you are a Bristol Motor Club member you may use Reward Points for full or part payment of the track access fee.
If you just wish to display your vehicle, entry is FREE, so you may use either the printed or online form to register your attendance.
You are welcome to pass on this invitation to any friends, fellow club members, in fact anyone who has a suitable car and would be interested in attending the event. The more the merrier! There is no need for membership of Bristol Motor Club or any other club: the event is open to all. However, as there is likely to be a high demand for the number of parade laps available make sure you get your entry in soon, and certainly no later than Friday 15th July.
If you have any specific questions, please don’t hesitate to email or phone me; otherwise I look forward to receiving your entry – and to seeing you in July!
