Bristol Junior Autosolo Championship: Round 5 Results 2025

It was a hot one!  EMCOS organised round 5 of the championship at Aston Down Business Park.  It’s a great little venue and so very well laid out for the space available.  Like our old Hutton Moor venue, there’s a little loose that causes a “dry line”  in places, which adds to the event.

Test 1 was a tighter one to get into the swing of things.  Joe Clemow was back in his Mini after missing a couple of rounds and he was on form, finishing test 1 in 100.5 seconds.  Archie Laurence was close behind on 101.5, followed by Patrick Osiak (104.4) and Finn Walker (108.9).  Ruben Hutt (111.7), Lucas Mees (115.9) and Immy Laurence (142.0) completed the line-up.  Immy was competing in her first event and the first time we’ve seen a 13 year old compete since the rules were changed to allow it earlier this month.

Test 2 was markedly faster and the eyes went out on stalks as a result!  The close race at the top got closer as a single tenth separated Joe from Archie after he pulled back 9 tenths.  Patrick consolidated his position head of Finn and Ruben.  Lucas improved significantly in just his third event.  Immy also improved significantly losing half the time to the leaders she did in the first test.

Test 3 was a little slower with a few more turns and the lead changed as Archie took a 0.5 second advantage over Joe.  Patrick was also gaining speed and Finn was catching him.  Ruben was finding sideways more fun than forwards and was slipping back into the clutches of Lucas.  Immy was improving again, losing even less time to the leaders on this test.

Test 4 was where it all had to be settled at the top.  Archie put in a slow first run, a quicker second and then a really fast third run.  Would it be enough?  Joe needed a pair of 45.3 runs to take the win.  The first was a 46.5 and it all looked like it was ending for him before he managed a 45.3 on his second run.  Could he do it again?  The car stuttered off the line and he thought it was over.  He threw everything he could at the run and smashed in a 45.0 to win by jus 0.4 seconds.  The heat was taking its toll and those behind maintained their positions, with Ruben just managing to keep Lucas at bay.

What an amazing event and a brilliant day.  Next time, it’s Thruxton.  Will Joe make it 4 out of 4?

Archie now leads the championship, but dropped scores come into play from here onwards.  He’s the only one to complete 5 rounds and both George ands Joe are bound to be in play for the win.

The same is true in the Generations Cup where Archie and Andy are leading.  George and Andy are back next time out.  Who will emerge victorious?
