Junior Autosolo Championship

Bristol Motor Club is pleased to announce its new Junior Autosolo Championship.  The championship aims to provide low cost entry and close competition for Juniors and their guardians.  The championship runs entirely against the clock at low speed to reduce risk and vehicles with a maximum of 2000cc are used.  Whilst there’s a cup for the fastest Junior, there is also a cup for the fastest adult/junior team allowing guardians to compete with their junior drivers sharing the same vehicle.

FAQ

1. What is the Bristol Junior Autosolo Championship?

The Bristol Junior Autosolo Championship is a new motorsport championship organised by Bristol Motor Club. It is designed for young drivers aged 18 or under, and is a low-budget autosolo championship with an emphasis on accessibility.

2. When and where will the championship be held?

The championship will consist of 8 rounds held at various locations across the South West of England. Confirmed dates and venues are listed above.

3. What cars are eligible?

The regulations are designed to be accessible, allowing any Series Production car eligible for Autosolo. Cars must be road legal and fitted with normal road tyres (not List 1B or 1C. Engine capacity is limited to 2000cc, including forced induction (1176cc max) and rotary engines (1.5x multiplier, making the RX8 eligible).

A potential change in regulations may allow two-seater sports cars fitted with a roll bar, but this is not confirmed and is subject to Motorsaport UK regulation changes.

4. How does the scoring system work?

Points are awarded based on finishing position, with 25 points for 1st place down to 1 point for other finishers. The best 5 scores from the 8 rounds will count towards the final championship standings.

There are two championships:

  • Bristol Junior Champion: Awarded to the driver with the highest number of points.
  • Bristol Generations Champion: Awarded to the adult/child pairing with the lowest combined time across the events.

In the case of a tie, the number of class wins and then the aggregate time percentage difference to the winner of each round will be used to determine the winner.

5. Can I win more than one championship?

No. If a Junior driver wins both championships, the Generations Championship will be awarded to the next best pairing.

6. What are the entry requirements?

To be eligible, drivers and entrants must:

  • Be 17 years old or under.
  • Hold a valid Motorsport UK RS Clubman Competition Licence (or equivalent EU licence for professional drivers).
  • Be a member of Bristol Motor Club.
  • Register for the Championship via the online form.

7. Are there any additional opportunities for competitors?

Yes, participants can earn an extra championship point by submitting an article, photo, or social media content relating to the championship. This encourages young drivers to get involved in the running and promotion of the event.
