Committee Digest: January 2020

It seems a long time since our last committee meeting in November.  We started with a look back to the Allen Classic Trial.  It was even more of a success than usual with the last car finishing around dusk.  The live streaming from Guys Hill went well and we’ll be streaming much more in 2020.  The committee agreed is was worth considering what investment we could make to improve our streaming setup.  A list with costs and benefits has been drawn up for approval next month.  The team are already gearing up for our first live stream at the Great Western Sprint.  If you want to join the streaming team as a fixer, camera operator, commentator or presenter, get in touch.

We made the last few decisions before our Awards Night in February, which is at our usual club night venue, Colston’s School, Bell Hill, BS16 1BJ.  The Great Western Sprint planning is going well and entries will open next month, albeit at a slightly higher cost to cover the increased insurance and circuit hire fees.  It was noted that viability of this event is reducing with the increased costs.

Our new membership system has been well received and the majority of people have renewed online with a card payment, suggesting that it was a much-wanted system.  A few members have struggled with the system, so please remember that if you are having trouble, you can either ask for help or continue to use the old system.  However you want to renew is fine by us.  We’re aware that partial payments with reward points is a bit disjointed at the moment, but the system is being upgraded to accept that and we hope to have it ready in February.  We can still process your partial reward points renewal before then if you need to renew earlier.

We also looked forwards to the Roy Fedden Sporting Trial in November as we’re short of a venue.  We have three potential venues on the go right now, but if you have an alternative, we’re all ears.  Finally, we’ve had to change the date of our first AutoSolo this year.  It’s now a week later and the calendars on our events system and Facebook have been updated.
