Sunday Sundry: 1951 Awards Dinner & Dance
On this day in 1951, the Evening Post reorted on our annual Dinner and Dance. Back then, it was a formal affair with bow ties and dinner jackets. The photo they’ve chosen to publish is of Mrs Lawson presenting the Lawson Trophy to Sir W Alec Coryton whilst her husband, Mr Lawson watches on. Were The Lawsons the 1951 equivalent of The Benstocks?
These days, our awards night is an informal one and scheduled in February rather than December. Many of the awards are still the same ones we used back in 1951.
